Learn the basics of Stand-Up Paddling (SUP) in a 1.5-hour introductory course on the scenic Trondheim waterfront. Perfect for beginners aged 8 and up, this course covers paddling techniques, safety, and gear tips—no prior experience needed.
Get started with Stand-Up Paddling on this practical and informative course held at Trondheim Kajakk. A qualified instructor will introduce you to essential paddling techniques, teach you how to manage balance and movement, and explain how to handle your board in a safe and controlled manner.
You’ll also gain insight into different types of SUP boards and gear, and learn key safety techniques such as self-rescue. Out on the water, you'll take part in a short paddle session to practice posture, stroke efficiency, and basic maneuvers.
This course is designed for beginners and requires no previous experience—only that you are able to swim 50 meters. Whether you're looking to start a new hobby or simply want to try something new in the outdoors, this is a well-rounded introduction to SUP in a safe and supportive environment.
The minimum age for participants is 8 years. The activity lasts 1.5 hours and takes place at Trondheim Kajakk, Strandveien 104, 7067 Trondheim. Participants must be able to swim at least 50 meters.
It is likely that you will get wet, so please bring a dry and warm change of clothes. Wool underwear and wool socks are recommended, especially if used under the wetsuit. Neoprene shoes or socks are ideal. Bring woolen sweaters and, in case of rain, an old rain jacket. To avoid losing heat through your head, bring a hat or a neoprene cap. A towel is necessary, and something to drink is useful—preferably a thermos with tea or coffee. If you own a board, dry suit, or wetsuit, bring your own equipment if you prefer. If the weather is good, you may also want to bring swimwear, sunscreen, and a cap or hat.
The better your clothing, the less you’ll freeze—and the more you’ll be able to focus and enjoy the session.
